Killing In The Name – God’s Scoreboard
I had a strict Christian upbringing (Catholic), but clearly it didn’t take. Now, as I get older, each and every day I find religion to be more and more loathsome. I’m not an Athiest; I do believe in god in some form (mostly as that moment just prior to the big bang – god is the unknown). However, in the words of the Dead Kennedys, “All religions make me want to throw up. All religions make me sick.”
I used to see religion as a force of good, but I now know better. It certainly isn’t all bad, but does a working in a soup kitchen offset the scores murdered in the name of god?
Since it would be impossible to go back through history and get an accurate count of the number of people killed in the name of relion, I decided I’d start today. This is by no means a fully accurate list, but it’s a start…
